What’s the Deal with Dermaplaning?

The number one skincare service we recommend treating yourself to before any big event is dermaplaning, and it happens to be the newest service offered in our studio (and your newest obsession!).

If you’ve never heard of dermaplaning before, you’re not alone. It is a relatively new term that has been circulating within the aesthetics culture, only gaining popularity within the past few years. However, it is an aesthetic practice that has been used since the 1970s to:

  • promote collagen production

  • trigger cell regeneration

  • reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

  • provide significant exfoliation to tired, dull skin

  • brighten and even out the skin

  • ease hyperpigmentation

  • treat acne scarring

  • minimize pores

So what exactly is it?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive form of exfoliation that resurfaces dehydrated and dull skin, leaving you with a glass-like complexion by getting rid of dead skin cells and vellus hair (those little peach fuzzies!) via a scalpel. Basically, it is a very fancy form of face shaving (not as scary as it sounds, we promise), which has the above proven benefits. But, we also love it because it helps prep your skin for flawless makeup application.

Makeup only looks as good as the base that it sits on--great skin prep and exfoliation are key for a flawless look. By gently removing the peach fuzz, pollutants, dry skin, and dirt from the outermost layer of your skin, you are left with a beautiful canvas upon which our artists can create flawless work. Even better--there is no downtime with this treatment; it provides immediate results! We just ask that you let your skin breath for the first few hours afterwards.

We offer three tiers of this service in our studio, from very basic to a more luxury experience (with a wonderful gua sha massage and peel!), all suited for clients of any age. And, if you are still on the fence about it, head over to our Instagram to see this service in action!
